cartoon arm connections

For me, connections and joints are the hardest things to draw. I like to group anatomy and think of bigger ideas. I think of all the anatomy going from the torso to the arm as one big squishy form.

  1. I find it difficult to "figure out" joints/muscles sometimes.. but I manage to just "make it look OK" I should try to practice more..
a question here ..may be off subject a bit how would you apply this to animals? (four legged ..ex: simba from lion king or the animals from home on the range) I can't just do it simply ..every time I have to start with this nervous feeling like I'm going to screw up when I am drawing a simple horse !
    any tips?

  2. Hatem: Do you have The Weatherly Guide to Drawing Animals by: Joe Weatherly. I found that book really helpful.

  6. This blog is really amazing!

Is fantastic see you using gestalt in the comics (I've thought about that, but think and do is totally different).

Could you do a post about wrinkles and draperies?

    Thanks a lot!

  8. Gustavo: you know, I mainly just draw cartoons, so my drapery is a memorized shortcut that I learned from copying 2d animation.

  10. Cheers for the great inspiration. Yet again you showed a great way to aproach a certain area. After scetching a few pages the concept of form become yet again clearer.
